Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it. (NIV)
I was always taught as a child that ill-gotten gain, money, or wealth would not last long and you could not enjoy it, so there was no point in obtaining things the wrong way. I have found this to be completely true not because my parents told me but because God says it throughout His word. What has been more comforting and beneficial is the scripture above that lets us all know that when God blesses there is no trouble with it.
God’s blessings are truly peaceful. I hope that we all will come to a place in our life where we only want what God wants and only want it the way God gives it. “The blessing of the LORD brings wealth,” this lets us know that the lie that Satan has told us that Christians are not suppose to have wealth is just that - it is a lie. God has no problem with us having wealth, but it must come from Him and it must never become an idol or a god to us. God does not desire for anything to take us away from Him and His blessings are given to bring us closer to Him and His will.
When God blesses it brings wealth, but not just financial wealth but complete wealth. God is a God who is whole and complete therefore His blessings are going to be whole and complete blessings. His blessings will bring spiritual, physical, mental, emotional and financial wealth. Wealth means that it meets your needs and the needs of others for generations to come. The dictionary defines wealth as “abundance of valuable material possessions or resources; an abundant supply.” God blesses to provide an abundant supply so that not only will the receiver be blessed but also those that God puts in their path. When we are walking in the blessings of God we are to receive and distribute the wealth of those blessings. God blesses us to be a blessing to others and if we have been given wealth from God then it is given to bless us and others. In Deuteronomy 8:18 it tells us the purpose of God’s wealth “18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.” The purpose of God’s wealth is to establish His covenant and honor His promise. The blessing of the LORD brings wealth means that it is given to establish a committed relationship between God and His people and to honor God’s promise to His people. This scripture also states that He adds no trouble to it. This is truly as important a blessing as the wealth itself. To receive a blessing of wealth with no trouble or sorrow along with it means that the blessings of God are truly peaceful. Every blessing of God is abundant in its nature and is wrapped in peace.
Jesus is best example of this, He came that we may have life and have it more abundantly and He is the Prince of Peace. It is one thing to have wealth but it is another thing to have it with trouble. I often am amazed when I see wealthy people with no peace and truth be told they could not buy the kind of peace that they are looking for because that can only come from God. There was a song out a few years ago by P.Diddy and Mase entitled “Mo Money Mo Problems” it basically stated that the more money you have the more problems you have to go along with it and from a worldly perspective this is true but not from a Kingdom of God perspective. With God the more you receive the more peace you will be given to go along with it. When God blesses you it is peaceful and you never have to look over your shoulder or worry when the problems will come because of it because He has already attached peace to the blessings and He promised no trouble with it.
God’s blessings bring wealth but no sorrow or trouble, so do not be afraid of God’s blessings or God-given wealth, it is all given to bless you and others.
