3 The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.
Wisdom is often simple and straight forward. This verse is just that, it does not take you to deep theological places it just informs the reader that God is always watching. Too often our concern is that big brother is always watching but that ought not to be our main concern. We should always remember and be aware of the absolute fact that there is nothing that happens that God’s eyes did not see. The beauty of this scripture is that God is keeping watch on wicked and the good. Whatever category our actions put us in God has constant surveillance of us. Think of this way we are on God’s candid camera and there is no escaping the lens. During the remainder of our lives we should remember three things:
1. God sees what we do -God sees everything and is fully informed of all parameters. I know that sometimes things are not as they appear to be. Rest assured that God not only sees but knows all of the details involved in every situation. God has all of the information and it is correct down to the motive behind what God sees. Remember that we are in God’s view constantly and should live our lives as such.
2. God’s eye does not lie - This is a good thing. God saw that we were wicked and evil and responded by sending His Son to die for our sins. God sees when we do good things and are obedient to His commands, this is encouraging. This is why it doesn’t matter who recognizes our effort because God saw it. There is no need to brag about what we do for others; God will reward our good His way. The flip side of this is that God sees our bad as well. Therefore, we should not waste precious time in denial but in repentance.
3. God watches over us to protect us- One thing that is true about God is that He is a protective parent. God watches not only what we do but what others do to us as well. God will deal with us when we are wrong but will always protect us from those who are intent on doing wrong to us. It is not necessary for us to run and tell on others because God saw it and will deal with them accordingly. God punishes the wicked and protects the righteous.
Challenge:
Ask yourself and honestly answer this question each day: Is God pleased with what He sees in me?
