In God I Trust

Scripture:  Psalm 118: 8 (KJV)

Psalm 118: 8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. 9 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes. (KJV)

Trust In GodIn this Psalm it is very clearly made who we should put our trust in and whom we should not put our confidence in. It is often very easy to get enticed to place our trust in human beings but sooner or later humans will let us down, disappoint or prove to be untrustworthy. This passage of scripture is one that lets the reader know that it is better to put our trust in God than human beings even humans in positions of power, authority or wealth. God is always faithful and deserving of our trust. Think of anytime in your life that God was not faithful or trustworthy. There has not been a time when this has occurred. God can always be trusted with our inner most secrets, thoughts, fears and dreams. God doesn’t betray or patronize us He just provides us with a safe confidential place to go at all times. God is the ONLY one that we truly trust. He will not only show love to us, even when we are not deserving of His love, but he will also chastise, correct and encourage us at the same time. I know that many of us have been blessed by having wonderful family and friends, but God should be the first place that we run to with everything.

The scripture says that it is better to trust in the Lord, this is because after weighing all options and having a free will choice in the end we come out better by choosing God over human beings. Why?

1. God never disappoints - When we come to the point that we are willing to submit to the will of God we are never disappointed. Yes there are times that we want to have our way but our way is not the best way and God’s way always proves to be the best way no matter how long it takes us to come to that realization. When we acknowledge that God’s will and plan are better than our then there is no room for disappointment because the end result will be better than we could have imagined.

2. God keeps His promises -The one thing that is so wonderful about being in a relationship with God is that I can count on Him doing everything that He promised. God is true to His Word. God promises to never leave us nor forsake us and that has been true with all of us since our existence. There are people that you love that will not keep their promises to you even when they don’t intend to break them, but God NEVER breaks a promise but on most occasions provides more than He promised.

3. God is eternal -God is the beginning and the end. God has always existed and will do so this should give us great confidence and trust in God’s ability to be faithful and reliable. Think about this God created and has been running the universe all of these years and the sun rises and sets each day on time (as set by God), there is always oxygen and every essential component needed for life. God’s eternal nature gives Him seniority over every human being and tells us that He will be here for us no matter what happens in life.

Challenge:

This week put all of your trust in God for everything going on in your life, make Him the ONLY one that you confide in, run to and depend on. He will gladly receive your trust.
