Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. (NKJV)
So much of life is mental. The way we think often causes us to act or react a certain way. Doubt can bring about fear or will lead us into states of depression. At the same time mental state of belief can take us to places of great faith and peace. In as much as we don’t like to believe it where our mind is our existence is there also. Proverbs 23:7 says “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” Our thought process is often private before people but not before God. When we are thinking we are actually talking. rationalizing, debating and processing in God presence. Our thought life is an important part of our Christian walk. It is sad that many Christians suffer with depression and other similar mental states that cause us to live in a place that is far from peaceful let alone perfect peace. This scripture in Isaiah promises that God will keep us in perfect if our mind (heart) is continually focused on Him because we trust Him. I think too often we find ourselves in places of unbelief, fear, torment and turmoil because we don’t stay focused on God with trust in Him. Yes, there are times that we will think about God and what Jesus would do but we are not in that place mentally because of trust but because we are trying God out or looking for an answer only. This scripture tells us that the one who will get perfect peace is the one who is mentally locked in on God because of trust in God. The one who won’t waiver or be tossed about to and fro but is focused only on God, God’s plan and God’s way of getting it done. Trusting God means trusting in Him completely not just trying Him out. Real trust and faith are synonymous they simply mean that I believe in God even though I cannot see what God is doing. The reason we receive perfect peace when our minds are continually on Him is that means that we have arrived at a point that God is the only plan that we have and that we wholeheartedly trust in that plan. If God is plan A then you cannot have a plan B, if you have a plan B then you will not have peace because you have already prepared for plan A to fail and you have already invited fear not peace to your life. Perfect peace means that God, God’s plan and God’s way of doing things is the only option and the only place you are putting your trust. I have heard so many people say “I am going to leave it in God’s hands” if we are going to have perfect peace then that is exactly what we must do. The next time doubt or fear creeps into your mind cast it out with trusting thoughts of God then lock in and do not release your thoughts or the meditations of your heart to anyone or anything else. It is then that you will begin to experience peace that is really peace or what is called Perfect Peace and you experience it all of the time.
Challenge:
No longer buy into what ifs or back-up plans make God the only option in your life because you trust in Him. After all when has God not delivered? The answer to that should keep you in perfect peace.
