Are You a Creation or a Child of God?

Scripture:  Galatians 3:26

Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Are you a creation or a child of God? Many people go through life wondering whether they are a creation or a child of God. It is very clear from the scripture in Galatians that the Bible tells us that we are children of God by faith in Jesus Christ. Romans 8:14 also lets us know that we are children of God if we are led by the Spirit of God. The Bible is very clear in showing us that there is a difference between being a creation of God and being a child of God. Every human being is a creation of God, but every human being is not a child of God. I know that this is very difficult for some to understand, accept or comprehend but it really should not be that difficult. Creation, for the human, comes as a result of the birth process started by God with Adam and Eve. However, childhood comes as a result of faith in Jesus Christ. Many of us have been taught that we are all a child of God, but the Bible teaches us that childhood is a result of our faith in Jesus Christ. While it is not my goal to argue this point because the Bible is very clear about this particular matter, I feel that it is of utmost importance to at least point to some of the words of Christ as well. In John 8:44 as Jesus is talking to the Jews and expressing to them that he has heard from His father and He began to challenge and question them and to whom they belong. Jesus goes on to tell them that “you are of your father the devil” this is very important because Jesus identifies that there are some who are children of the devil. Obviously, then they cannot be children of God. The argument that we are all children of God is negated by this particular scripture along with the others that have been offered a thus far. One of the things that are of utmost importance in the life of the Christian is to have an understanding that our childhood is based upon a relationship of faith in Jesus Christ. One of the reasons why God gives us a clear separation between creation and childhood throughout the word of God is because there should be a difference also in the lifestyle of the created and the child.

We as children of God ought not to behave like we did when we were operating in a creative state. As a child of God, we have to be one who represents the household of God. As a child of God there should be three things that are exhibited in our lives.

1. Transformation -- there should be a transformation of our lives. This takes place when we articulate our faith and submit ourselves completely to God to become a child. This is what the born-again process is all about. It is about going from being created by God to being born in the Spirit. The Bible tells us that that which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit, the new birth is representative of just that, a brand new birth. As a result of this new birth we should represent a transformed human being who no longer is just a creation but a willingly submitted child. In our state of childhood we are now able to access all of the benefits that come with being a member of the family. Being born again means we are born now in the spirit, even though we still live in the flesh, and are now children of God because of our faith in Jesus Christ.

2. Training -- after our new birth. We now have to be trained into the ways of God, or the ways of the family. The kingdom of God is very clear about its rules, it's, laws, statutes, ordinances and commands. Just as a child has to be trained on how to eat, how to walk, how to talk, we too must be trained on how to do all of these things for the good of the kingdom of God. God's desire is that each of us will be trained on how to operate in His kingdom. Our training is of utmost importance, because in our training we learn how to live this new life.

3. Triumph -- each of us should be triumphant in all areas of our lives. One of the guarantees of being a child of God is that we never lose. Now please understand that winning is not defined by our standards, but by those of God. As a child, we have already overcome eternal death. We are guaranteed eternal life as a child of God. Jesus tells Nicodemus in John chapter 3, that “except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” The born-again process guarantees the rights that are forwarded to the children of God and the most precious of them all is the forgiveness of sin and a guarantee for eternal salvation because of our faith in Jesus Christ. We will be triumphant in and over all things, especially death. While our physical bodies all die, our spirits will live for ever in eternity with Christ and not Satan. This is the importance of being born again in the spirit. The new birth and its triumph only come as a result of our faith in Jesus Christ.

If you are unsure as to whether you are a creation or a child, then pray to God and tell God that you desire to be a child not a creation and that you accept the salvation offered by Jesus Christ and that you believe it to be true. God will receive you just as you are and will grow you into what He has always intended for you to be. There is no depth of sin that the salvation of God can’t save you from, He will accept you just as you are, but you have to make the choice to either stay a creation or be a child of God.
