Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
This is one of the most quoted scriptures in the Bible. It is one of great promise, comfort and truth. I personally love it for the security that under girds it and the very obvious principle at work; that God is my source and He will use His resources to take care of all of my needs. If you get nothing else out of this devotional please grasp the eternal and undeniable truth that God is your source and He has an unlimited amount of resources at His disposal that He will use to supply all of your needs. Too often we as human beings get caught up in the resources and not the source. This is so misguided because without a source there is no resource. Our sole focus should be on the source by which all resources were created and are used. God is the sole creator of the universe and all that is within it. He is not limited in the resources that He has created or that He will use to bless His people. I have witnessed a lot of people who have missed God’s blessings because they limited the resources of God to what they believed they should or would be. The Jews missed the blessing of the Messiah because He did not come in the package (appear or look) that they thought He should come in. We should never complain about what God uses but be thankful that God is true to His word and is using something or someone as a resource to meet all of our needs.
This scripture identifies a few things that we should be aware of:
God is the source and the supplier - I have never known God to give anything that did not come with multiple fold blessings attached to it. God’s gifts and supplies keep on giving and servicing the needs of the recipient for generations to come (Exodus 20:6). Always remember that God had you in mind when He sent out resources to you from His heavenly warehouse. If the product doesn’t look like the one you ordered this means that the one you received is not a mistake but is better than what you ordered. God in His infinite wisdom sends to us the exact thing that we need when we need it most. Don’t complain about the order accept it. After all, God is the giver of every good and perfect gift.
God shall supply ALL or our needs -Two things jump out at us here: 1. that God shall supply and 2. All of our needs. We should find it very comforting that the one who knows all of our needs and who has unlimited resources SHALL supply us with the things that we need to not only live but to accomplish the assignment that we have from Him on the earth. This is a promise from God that should remove worry, trepidation, doubt and fear from us. We can rest in the fact that God is willing utilize everything at His disposal to make sure that our needs are met.
God’s ability to do it is sure - The scripture goes on to say that all of this is according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. In banking terms this means that there is NO chance of there ever being insufficient funds in the account. God’s riches are sure and never close to a shortage. Think about it much of what God has made reproduces itself. God already had in mind that He would create this world and give it the ability to reproduce therefore lack is not possible with God. God is not limited by time, space or resources. He always has more than enough at His disposal so whatever we need is readily available.
Remember:
God is your source. He has unlimited resources that He will use to bless us with. Don’t complain about who or what He uses just be thankful that He is mindful of our needs and is willing to meet ALL of them.
